Volunteer

Why volunteer?

Family Support Derbyshire is always looking for people who have a genuine desire to make a difference to the local community.  Our aim is to support families when they need us most. By volunteering for Family Support Derbyshire, you can transform the lives of young children and their parents in your community.

In return we provide training, guidance and support you need to be effective and make a real difference, whilst also providing you with the opportunity to meet new people, enhance you well-being and develop transferable skills.

The only requirement to be a volunteer is your own individual skills and parenting experience.  We will need you to complete a DBS check and provide references. If successful in this appointment process we use your individual skills and experience to match with a suitable family to support.

Home Visiting Volunteer

The only qualification you need to become a Family Support Derbyshire Volunteer is being a parent. Anything else will be provided by our Volunteer Training Course. Based on your skills and experiences, we will match you to a family to support. To ensure stability for our families, we ask that you commit to at least 6 months as a Volunteer. As part of Safeguarding, you will be required to complete a DBS check which we will organise for you, and we will also require references. If you would like to apply to become a volunteer or would like more information......we would be delighted to hear from you! Please call us on 01332 742619 or email us at hello@familysupportderbyshire.co.uk

Family Feedback

We can tell you all about becoming a Volunteer but it is the thoughts and feelings of the Families who we support, which is the most important. Here are just a few of the messages we have received from Families about the support they receive..... "I appreciate the visits, it's nice to know someone cares." "Today's phone call really put a smile on my face." "Thank you so much. We love our gifts. Looking forward to the strawberry plant growing and doing the activity pack." "Thank you so much for keeping in touch. It has been and still is such a struggle at times. The calls really are appreciated... just to know someone is checking in! Thanks so much, you all do wonderful work!"
