Volunteer

Why volunteer?

Our volunteers help parents with babies and toddlers up to the age of 5, offering both emotional and practical support to families when they need us most. We understand the difficulties that parents of young children face and we know that sometimes it feels lonely and overwhelming. Our support helps parents to overcome challenges, build confidence and find the joy in raising children. We want to ensure that children get valuable learning opportunities, chance to socialise and a safe, positive environment so that they can thrive. We visit families in their own homes and also help them to access support in the community and, because we know that all families are different, the support we offer is unique to every family.

We provide all the training, guidance and support you need to become part of our brilliant team and to make a real difference to families in your community, whilst also providing you with the opportunity to meet new people, enhance your well-being and develop transferable skills. There is no prior experience required, only a kind and compassionate manner and the willingness to learn. As part of your training, we will need you to complete a DBS check and provide references and, if these checks are completely successfully, we will match you with a suitable family.

Home Visiting Volunteer

The only qualification you need to become a Family Support Derbyshire Volunteer is being a parent. Anything else will be provided by our Volunteer Training Course. Based on your skills and experiences, we will match you to a family to support. To ensure stability for our families, we ask that you commit to at least 6 months as a Volunteer. As part of Safeguarding, you will be required to complete a DBS check which we will organise for you, and we will also require references. If you would like to apply to become a volunteer or would like more information......we would be delighted to hear from you! Please call us on 01332 742619 or email us at hello@familysupportderbyshire.co.uk
